Dr. Shumate uses an Opalescense gel to whiten your teeth. The active ingredient in this gel is carbamide peroxide. Carbamide peroxide enters the enamel to get attaches to the discolored molecules in your teeth. The bonds attaching the discolored molecules to your tooth is broken oxygenation of the Carbamide peroxide. The result of this reaction is whiter teeth.
